About me - Leanne

Immerse yourself in the transformative world of early childhood education with me, Leanne, the passionate force behind Wild Gully Therapy & Nature Play in Bundaberg. As the founder and director of the only nature play business in the community, I have dedicated myself to fostering a deep connection between children and the great outdoors.

With over 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher, my journey into nature-based education was sparked by a desire to see children thrive in natural environments. Graduating with distinction in early childhood education from CQU, my commitment to my students' right to play led me to pursue further training in nature play techniques from both Nature Play Qld and mentors at Wildlings Forest School.

Since its inception in 2022, Wild Gully has become a cornerstone of the Bundaberg community, offering a diverse range of services from Bush Kindy, loose parts play, sensory and messy play sessions, holiday programs to fire education sessions. My expertise extends beyond my business, as I now consult with educators and principals, advocating for the integration of nature play.

At Wild Gully, I am fortunate to lead a team of dedicated nature play educators, each bringing their own unique skills to enrich children's experiences in nature. Whether covered in mud while hiking through the wilderness or gathered around a campfire making damper, my unwavering dedication to early childhood development and nature-based learning shines through.

My journey is fuelled by a profound interest in brain development, childhood development, and the benefits nature offers through play. This passion drives her advocacy for developmentally appropriate practices that integrate outdoor experiences into early childhood education. Join me, Leanne and the Wild Gully community in embracing nature's transformative power for children's growth and well-being on their journey of discovery, play and connection with the natural world.  Nature- it truly is that simple.

What is Wild Gully?

Welcome to Wild Gully!

Established in 2022, our mission at Wild Gully is to foster a deep connection between individuals and the wonders of nature. We proudly serve the Bundaberg and local community areas, combining the expertise of passionate educators and early childhood professionals to create an environment where child-led play and connection are our key.

We offer Nature Play sessions designed for families with children, providing them with the opportunity to explore and marvel at the beauty of nature. Additionally, we provide a safe space for our NDIS clients to participate in our nature play sessions amidst the tranquillity of the outdoors. We believe that our innate connection to the wild is universal!

At the heart of Wild Gully lies a belief in the power of growth and development when provided with the necessary support in a nurturing environment. Our program is truly one-of-a-kind. We conduct nature play sessions in the great outdoors, where individuals can thrive and engage in play within a natural setting. Our team of professionals are well-versed in childhood development and tailor sessions based on research and developmentally appropriate practices. We let children develop naturally.

We strive to forge meaningful and lasting connections between individuals of all ages and abilities and the captivating world of nature. By providing an opportunity for play in sensory-rich and experiential learning environments, we create a truly unique way to engage children at a crucial stage of their development.

We take great pride in our unique approach to outdoor messy play, designed to enhance sensory development in children. By embracing the natural environment, we create opportunities for hands-on exploration and sensory experiences that foster growth and development.

Let's reconnect children with nature, allowing them to embrace the wild and experience true freedom while nurturing their autonomy. Together, we can foster resilience and problem-solving skills by using nature as our playground. By prioritising children's social and emotional well-being in natural environments, we can offer the support they need to thrive.

Let's embark on a journey of learning and growth in nature together. Contact us today to express your interest. We are thrilled to support you in your nature-based endeavours. Feel free to browse through our FAQ section for answers to any questions you may have.

Now, we also offer retreats in nature, where we can enjoy the tranquillity of nature, connection with nature, and find like-minded people. These retreats focus on wellness and health, allowing participants to take time out of their busy schedules to rejuvenate and recharge amidst the beauty of the natural world.

See you out in the wild
