About Me

Hi, I’m Leanne Webster – founder of Wild Gully Therapy & Nature Play, passionate early childhood educator, play advocate, mum, and fierce believer that childhood is not a race – it’s a right.

I’ve spent over two decades teaching children from prep to Year 12 across Queensland – from Mount Isa to Bundaberg – but my truest learning happened outside the classroom. It happened in the mud, under trees, around campfires, and through the eyes of children who just needed the freedom to be.

Wild Gully was born from a fire in my belly and a knowing in my bones: children are not broken. The system is. We’re pushing kids too fast, too early – into stillness, into silence, into disconnect. And it’s time we stop.

I believe in getting messy. In trusting childhood. In saying “yes” to puddles and sticks and real risk. Because these aren’t just games – they’re the foundation of resilience, confidence, emotional regulation, and lifelong learning.

At Wild Gully, we invite children back to what they’re wired for – movement, freedom, risk, curiosity, and joy. We do this through sensory-rich nature play sessions, bush kindy, educator training, community advocacy, and more. We also hold space for families to slow down, connect, and challenge outdated beliefs about how children “should” grow.

I’ve been mentored by the best in the field, I’ve trained hard, built every policy, and poured my heart into this work because our children deserve better. So do our educators. So do our parents.

I’m here to remind you that:

  • Play is not optional.

  • Risky play is a right.

  • Slowness is sacred.

  • Childhood is enough.

Whether you're a parent searching for something real, an educator wanting to do things differently, or a community leader ready to support change, you’re in the right place.

Welcome to Wild Gully – where we don’t just talk about change – we play it into being.

Come join the movement.
Let’s give childhood back.

— Leanne
