FAQs

What should I bring to a nature play or therapy session?

Great question. Please bring a hat, water bottle, snacks, insect repellent, change of clothes (for our little people), closed shoes and a big smile. Please apply sun screen prior to attending and have a raincoat or gum boots on hand. Our risk assessment states, that all attendees are required to wear closed in shoes and long pants. Gum or rain boots may also be useful to bring. Yes, we may jump in the mud.

What happens if is rains?

As we are a mobile and outdoors program, we value the learning and development in all weather events. We will however work with the council and the emergency response when the weather turns nasty. We will make a call on the morning of the event and offer refunds or a make up session. But seriously, who doesn’t love jumping in puddles?

How is Wild Gully different to other sessions?

Our Wild Gully Therapy & Nature Play sessions support our families to be independent and to also reconnect with the great outdoors. We use nature immersion, exploration, risky play, loose parts and creativity. Our hope is to support our friends to be conscious, kind, confident, independent and resilient.

Am I guaranteed a place in my preferred session once I pay?

Yes. Once you pay for your term fees, you spot is guaranteed each week. Please book your session on our website.

What happens if I miss a session?

If you are able to message & let us know you are unable to make your enroled session, please do. We are unable to give a credit due to absenteeism, however you can choose to make up a session of your choice. If the session is cancelled due to a weather event, you can receive a credit for future sessions.

What do I need to know before I enrol?

Please complete an enrolment form for each child and list any medical concerns or allergies. We have a clothing policy to read and please read the terms and conditions prior to attending.

Do you offer excursions to your venues?

Yes we do. If you would like to bring a group of children to our sessions, we would love to have you attend. We have more details under the Community Events page.

Can I bring my child who has special needs?

Yes. We accept NDIS participants. We are an all inclusive outdoor service. We offer small group sessions on Thursday for our friends with a NDIS plan. Please contact us to organise how we can support you and your child.

Is Wild Gully insured?

Yes, Wild Gully has $20 000 000 liability insurance. Part of your weekly fees contribute towards our insurance. Please ensure you read and sign our terms and conditions and waivers prior to joining us.

Can I drop my child off?

While this would be a great option, we usually we would prefer at least one adult to stay with their children up to the age of 6 years. We hope to create a community where adults can also network and support each other and join in the play. Please message us if you have further questions regarding this.

How can I support my older family member at Wild Gully?

We are so passionate about supporting our friends who are experiencing dementia or social isolation. We hold fortnightly sessions in nature and supported by carers and volunteers to enable our friends to engage in meaningful activities together.

Will you let me know when my child is hurt?

We have a strict risk assessment created with our insurance company and local council that we adhere to. We have incident reports and systems in place when medical support is required. However, as part of normal childhood development your child will most probably fall, and receive a scrape or bruise. Being able to get up and carrying on is part of encouraing resilience. We will try our best to let you know about these, althought they might be a great conversation starter of what great adventurers and memories were created when they got that bruise. You will be advised of any head bumps if you are not in attendance. Falling helps children to know where their body is in space.

Do you offer family discount?

Yes we certainly do. We love siblings to enjoy our nature play space and play. At the checkout, your sibling discount will be applied..

My child is under 6 months, can I still attend?

Great question. We love babies to enjoy our sensory and play sessions. They are fabulous for socialisation, and not just for the bubbas. You can use a discount code to bring your baby to our sessions for FREE. We will need you to enrol for insurance reasons.

Do you offer toileting for my child?

As we are a mobile, outdoor service, we unfortunately cannot offer this service. We will have spaces available for you to safely and hygiencally attend to your child. We are mindful to leave a minimil carbon foot print when we leave the venue.

Is there a payment plan to pay my sessions off during the term?

Yes we certainly do. We realise how valuable our program is and also supporting a family on a budget. Please contact us for the payment plan codes. We currently offer a plan for three payments over the term. If you require something different, please email us. We are here to help you.

FAQs

My child has ASD, what other diagnosis will other children and adults have who will be attending Wild Gully?

While we will have children with Autism diagnosis, we will also have children and others who may not have a diagnosis as yet, but need to have support on developmental skills. We may have children with ADHD, sensory processing disorder or a gross or fine motor support. We do require children attending Wild Gully to be aware of their’s and other’s safety as all of our sessions are outdoors.

How do I organise what goals my child needs?

If your child has received NDIS funding towards their OT visits, you will already have goals that we can work on together in our small group sessions. Our occupational therapist and play workers will work together to ensure your child’s goals are catered for and reviewed regularly. We will focus on your main goals for your child individually and in small group sessions, we can focus on more goals. When you contact us for your initial consultation, please have these goals with you. If your child does not have NDIS funding and requires therapy, please contact us for our fees and how we can best cater for your child and your family.

What is the difference between Nature Play sessions and Therapy sessions?

Nature Play sessions are available to all of our Wild Gully friends. In our Nature Play sessions, we will have several resources and activities planned. However, our nature play friends have the freedom to choose their own play. We would expect some tree climbing, climbing over boulders, playing in mud, building forts and so much more. We will also hold storytelling, songs, and other fun. Therapy sessions are only available to our clients who either have an NDIS plan, Aged Care Plan or individual paying client. Our younger therapy friends will have the opportunity to engage in outdoor play sessions during their sessions in small groups. Parents are required to stay for these therapy sessions so you can then support your child at home. For our older therapy friends, we would hope they will come with a carer or family member as we enjoy our nature walks and activities together.

Why am I seeing my child ‘just playing?

Play has so many positive benefits for children. Then play in nature is calming, relaxing and nurturing. We see problem solving, oral language improvements, resilience improve, opportunities for fine and gross motor development, friendships, confidence. The beauty of therapy in a small group, is that it will feel in PLAY outdoors in nature with the other children.

What is ‘Happy Wanderers?’

Our Happy Wanderers Club is a group of our friends who are experiencing dementia. We will be meeting weekly with our family or carers in our park for some fun socialisation, gardening, singing, photography, games, a cuppa and fun. This can be supported by your health fund, medicare rebate, a care plan from your medical professional or privately funded by you. We hope to invite volunteers and special guests for our weekly get togethers.

Can I attend for a trial visit?

Due to the popularity of our unique services, we are unable to offer trial visits. We have a huge wait list. If you feel our service if not for your child, family member or yourself, you are welcome to cancel your enrolment. You will be offered a full refund.

Can I create a payment plan if I am unable to pay for therapy services up front?

Yes. We have not refused a client and we will work with you to best support goals and your payment scheme. Please contact us on hello@wildgully.com to find our more.

What will happen if I miss a therapy appointment?

As other professional businesses, we require prior notice of your intention not to attend. As we create group sessions, the importance of consistent attendance is crucial. We are unable to reimburse for missed session. We can offer a make up session when we have a vacancy.

Do I need to pay up front?

Yes. We require all fees to be paid prior to your sessions. You can pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or by term. Each will have a discount you can use. We also offer sibling, referral and marginalised group discounts.
